# Changing the battery in your Smart Button

**For whoever looks after your Smart Buttons.** To change the battery, twist the button to open the battery hatch, replace the old battery with a new CR2032 coin cell, then twist it back to close. The steps below explain each stage.

## Step-by-step instructions

1. **Prepare the Battery**  
   You’ll need a **CR2032 coin cell battery** for replacement.
2. **Open the Battery Hatch**
   
     - Place the Smart Button upside down.
     - Twist the outer casing **anticlockwise** to open the battery compartment.
     - If it feels tight, use a small tool such as a screwdriver or tweezers to gently turn the inner back cover.
3. **Remove the Old Battery**
   
     - Carefully take out the old battery.
     - Note the orientation — the **“+” side should be facing you**.
4. **Insert the New Battery**
   
     - Place the new **CR2032 battery** into the compartment.
     - Ensure the **“+” side is facing towards you**.
5. **Close the Battery Hatch**
   
     - Align the top part of the Smart Button with the bottom.
     - Twist it **clockwise** until it clicks into place.
     - Make sure it’s securely closed to prevent any issues.
