# Devices and connectivity: FAQs
Answers to common questions about the devices teamSOS runs on and how it connects.
## What devices does teamSOS work on?
- **Desktops and laptops**
- **Tablets and mobile phones** (Windows, Android and iOS)
- **Web app:** [app.teamsos.co.uk](https://app.teamsos.co.uk)
You can also buy a Bluetooth **Smart Button** for discreet access to help in an emergency.
## Do I need Wi-Fi or mobile data?
- Devices **without a SIM card** need an internet connection or Wi-Fi.
- Devices **with a SIM card** also work on mobile networks.
## Can staff use their own mobiles, and is it secure?
- Staff can choose to download teamSOS onto their own phones.
- In an emergency, they can share their location and call for help.
- The app is **secure** and can't be accessed while the phone is locked.
- Bluetooth Smart Buttons can also be issued for extra safety.
## We don't provide staff with mobile phones. How can teamSOS work?
teamSOS works on **desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile phones**, so teachers can call for help from any of these devices. Some schools let staff download teamSOS onto their personal devices. This is optional, but most staff choose to do so for their safety and wellbeing.
## How does teamSOS work for multi-site schools?
- For staff moving between sites, consider **site-specific incident types** and responder groups.
- For senior staff monitoring several sites, teamSOS can be set up to give **cross-site oversight**.
## Is teamSOS suitable for school trips?
Yes. teamSOS works **in the UK and abroad** using Wi-Fi or 3G/4G/5G.
- Staff can communicate with each other and the base team.
- Guidance packs can give advice during trips.
- Announcements keep the trip team up to date with changes or emergencies, and let staff confirm who is accounted for.
